Uneven skin tone and areas of darkened skin are among the most common concerns we treat at Advanced Skin and Body Solutions in Bellevue. Pigmentation can develop for a variety of reasons, and while it is often persistent, there are effective treatment options available for most types.
We work with all skin types and tailor every treatment plan to the individual, with the goal of improving clarity, balance, and overall skin tone in a safe and controlled way.

What is Pigmentation?
Pigmentation refers to the natural colouring of the skin, which is determined by melanin, the pigment responsible for skin tone. When melanin is produced or distributed unevenly, it can result in areas of darker skin, such as dark spots, patches, or an overall uneven complexion.
The most common types of pigmentation include sun damage and age spots caused by cumulative UV exposure, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) following breakouts or skin injury, and melasma, which is often triggered by hormonal changes. Each type has a different underlying cause, which is why treatment approaches need to be tailored accordingly.
Regardless of the type, consistent use of broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential both to help prevent pigmentation from worsening and to maintain results after treatment.
