Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers restore what time gradually takes away — volume, structure, and the soft definition that gives a face its character. At ASBS, we carry a carefully selected range of fillers and match each one to the patient in front of us, based on their unique anatomy, concerns, and goals.

What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers (such as Juvéderm or Restylane, and RHA) are injectable treatments that restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance the natural contours of the face without surgery or downtime. As we age, the skin gradually loses the volume and structure that give it shape and definition, and fillers are one of the most effective ways to address that loss. Most are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance the body produces naturally, though some work by stimulating the skin's own collagen over time for longer-lasting improvement.
Results range from subtle and restorative to more significant facial rebalancing. At ASBS, the right approach is always determined by your unique features, concerns, and goals.
CONCERNED ADDRESSED
- Volume Loss: The face naturally loses fat and structure over time, leading to a hollowed or sunken appearance in areas like the cheeks, temples, and under the eyes..
- Lines & Folds at Rest: Unlike dynamic lines that appear with expression, deeper lines and folds that are present even at rest — such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines — respond well to targeted filler placement.
- Lip Definition & Volume: Whether the goal is added fullness, a more defined border, or simply restoring volume that has diminished over time, fillers offer precise, natural-looking enhancement.
- Facial Asymmetry: Minor asymmetries in the face can be subtly corrected through careful filler placement that brings greater balance to your features.
- A Non-Surgical Alternative: For those looking to address signs of aging or enhance their features without surgery, fillers offer meaningful, visible results with no downtime and no recovery.
Another Way to Restore
Biostimulators work differently than traditional fillers, stimulating the skin's own collagen production for gradual improvement that compounds over time. It's a longer-view approach — and for the right patient, a remarkably effective one.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers work by introducing a moisture-attracting molecule into the skin to immediately add volume, hydration, and structure to the treated area. The precision of placement is what defines the outcome — different formulations are engineered for different depths. Placed correctly, filler enhances the face's natural architecture rather than masking it. Because hyaluronic acid is naturally metabolized by the body, results are long-lasting but not permanent; most fillers remain effective for six months to two years, varying by product, area, and individual.
Biostimulators like Sculptra offer a different kind of result — one that develops gradually as the skin rebuilds its own collagen over weeks and months. Whatever the approach, every treatment plan at ASBS is tailored to your specific anatomy, concerns, and goals.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Wondering if dermal fillers are right for you? These are some of the most common indicators it's worth exploring.
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles at Rest: Deeper lines and creases that remain visible even without expression — such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or lines around the mouth.
- Noticeable Volume Loss: Cheeks that have lost their fullness, temples that appear hollow, or an under-eye area that looks sunken are all signs the face is losing the structural support that fillers can restore.
- Skin Laxity & Loss of Definition: As the skin loses elasticity and the underlying structure shifts, features can begin to look less defined.
- A Preference for Non-Surgical Care: For patients who want meaningful improvement without surgery or recovery time, fillers are one of the most versatile and proven options available

Frequently Asked Questions
We believe informed patients make confident decisions. Here are the questions we hear most.

This depends on the area being treated, the degree of correction you are looking for, and how long you want results to last. We discuss this in full during your complimentary consultation and recommend the most appropriate product or combination of products for your goals.
Some discomfort is normal with any injectable treatment, but we take steps to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Many of our fillers contain lidocaine — a local anesthetic that numbs the area as the product is injected — and a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand for additional comfort. For patients who want extra reassurance throughout the session, Pro-Nox is also available.
Most patients experience little to no downtime after filler treatment. Some swelling, redness, or light bruising around the injection site is common and generally settles within a few days. We recommend taking it easy for the first 24 to 48 hours — avoiding intense exercise and excessive heat — but for most people, the day carries on as normal.
In many cases, yes! A well-considered combination of treatments can deliver results that feel more balanced and complete than fillers alone. Wrinkle relaxers, skin resurfacing, and tightening procedures all complement filler treatment in different ways, and your provider will help you understand which combinations are worth exploring based on your individual concerns and goals.
